Hello! I’m Becky.

Join me in making the world a more vibrant and positive place!

As an artist, I am inspired by optimism. I create joyful, colorful paintings that celebrate everyday blessings, big and small. I strive to capture the spirit and energy underlying all that surrounds us. I paint what I see around me intertwined with my own emotions and impressions, using bold colors and loose brush strokes to connect me with my audience and to capture the significance of the individual human experience, inspiring others to notice the blessings around us and to boldly make their own mark on the world.

I love to paint big. I stand up and use my whole arm and even my whole body to capture my energy on the canvas or directly on the wall. I love painting murals because they have the power to touch so many people and transform the mundane into a work of art.

My artwork takes you on an adventure, grabs your attention and transports you into a magical, colorful and whimsical world.

I have painted and created art for my entire life. I began painting murals in high school, first in my own home, then in a local toy store. While in college, I studied both Studio Art and Liberal Arts Plan II Honors at The University of Texas at Austin. Plan II required a Senior Thesis, so I developed and led a cooperative mural at the Austin Children's Shelter with youth at the Shelter over the course of several months. After graduating, I began a mural business in Houston and painted murals and paintings on canvas and other surfaces, as well as leading cooperative murals for youth and teaching painting classes. Over the years I have painted over 75 murals nationally and internationally and led numerous cooperative murals and painting classes.

When I'm not painting or dreaming up my next work of art, I love to cook, bake, work out, do yoga, garden, swim, read, travel, and hang out with my husband, our three kids, and our dog Indie!

My journey to find a career using art to bring beauty and light to God’s people started with this handmade mug.

After graduating from the University of Texas in Austin with a degree in Studio Art in 2001, I went to work at an art outreach program called Art C.I.T.Y (Community Initiative Teaching You) at St. John the Divine Community Center in New Orleans. We did mixed media projects with children of all ages, from 6 to 92. The art classes were offered free out of the community center to bring art and artmaking into lives of people in poverty. I painted a mural of a giant downtown cityscape with the kids there. We also did ceramics, and I created this handmade mug and fired it in the kiln. Throughout the summer, we created dozens of art projects together, and I saw the way art could make a difference in people’s lives. That experience lit a passion inside me to use art to bring joy and beauty to others. When I see this mug, I feel the warmth of that memory and the joy of that community of artmaking. I pour that warmth and joy into my painting even now!

Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven's sake. Sing in the shower. Dance to the radio. Tell stories. Write a poem to a friend, even a lousy poem. Do it as well as you possible can. You will get an enormous reward. You will have created something.”
